Intensive Outpatient Program

What is an "IOP"?

An IOP (intensive outpatient program) is a structured therapy program for people who need more support than a weekly session, but don’t need to stay in a hospital. You come several days a week for a few hours at a time for group and individual therapy.

Our trauma-informed Intensive Outpatient Program offers structured, evidence-based care that helps you stabilize your mental health while you continue living at home and participating in work, school, and family life. We also offer peer support as well as connection with community resources.

Who is an IOP for?

You would benefit from additional support

You require more therapeutic support than you have now, including more structure and accountability, but do not need to be supervised overnight.

You want to maintain your lifestyle

You are seeking treatment in a way that is flexible enough for you to maintain daily tasks such as school, work, or other family obligations.

You want a different therapeutic approach

Whether you are stepping down from an inpatient stay, are already in therapy, or are starting for the first time, you want to explore a holistic trauma-informed therapeutic approach.

You want a lifestyle change

You want a more comprehensive trauma-informed holistic approach that addresses your lifestyle, not just symptoms.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! We accept most major insurances such as Aetna, Anthem, Tricare, UnitedHealthcare, Care First, Cigna, GEHA, HealthKeepers Plus, Innovation Health, Optima, UMR, as well as self-pay.

Please note:
*Most Medicaid plans are accepted
*Some insurances require an authorization which we will complete on your behalf should it be needed

Our Holistic Trauma-Informed Program

Pathways Family and Community Services' adult trauma-informed Intensive Outpatient Program is designed for individuals who want more than a standard IOP experience. We go beyond symptom management by treating the whole person- not just the diagnosis.

Alongside evidence-based therapy, our program focuses on the foundations of mental and emotional health: sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress management. These core areas play a critical role in mood regulation, anxiety, trauma recovery, and overall well-being.

By addressing these foundations, Pathways helps you not only feel better, but build a life that supports long-term healing and resilience.

Sleep

Sleep disruptions are closely tied to anxiety, depression, trauma responses, behavioral issues, and emotional regulation. We help you understand your sleep patterns and develop realistic routines that support rest, recovery, and nervous system balance without perfectionism or pressure.

Nutrition

What and how we eat affects energy, mood, focus, and stress tolerance. Rather than rigid rules or diet culture, we focus on practical, supportive nutrition strategies that help stabilize emotions and support mental health in real-life conditions.

Movement

Movement is used as a tool for regulation and reconnection; not punishment or performance. You will learn accessible ways to use movement to release stress, improve mood, and build a safer, more trusting relationship with your body.

Stress Management

Chronic stress keeps the nervous system stuck in survival mode. Our program teaches concrete skills to calm the nervous system, manage overwhelm, and respond to stress more effectively; skills you can use both inside and outside of treatment.
