Resident in Counseling
Hello, I’m Elana!
Congratulations on taking the first step towards healing by thinking about therapy! Therapy provides a wonderful growth opportunity to get to know yourself better, and learn how to navigate challenges that life may present, and I am so excited to take these next steps with you.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from VCU in psychology in 2015 and a Master’s degree from VCU in Mental Health and Rehabilitation counseling in 2018. After graduating, I had a long career in public mental health services with a strong focus in substance use, trauma, and crisis situations. In my free time, you can find me outside in the garden, traveling, or participating in charitable community events.
My clients have said I have a very calming and affirming presence that gives them peace and allows them the time and space to realize that they can get through their life challenges with the right supports and coping skills in place. I use a person-centered approach to therapy and work very hard to develop my client’s sense of empowerment and strength. You will find my therapy space to be one free of judgment where you can feel safe to express yourself and open up. We will work together to meet your needs and get you every day closer towards being your favorite version of yourself.
My passions in the therapy space involve working with new mothers, women with birth trauma, and parents of children with complex medical needs. I also enjoy working with teens (12+) and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or other challenges while navigating becoming their own person.
